What moves the price

Every figure below is published by a third party. Not our quote.

What the liner is made of
A stainless liner is listed at $1,200–$2,500 on two company pages, the one on SW Admiral Way and Mad Hatter. Mad Hatter prices a cast-in-place liner at $2,000–$4,000 and an aluminum one, suitable for gas appliances only, at $800–$1,500.
How old the flue is
Mad Hatter writes that clay tile liners show deterioration after 30–50 years. The American Community Survey gives 1960 as the median year built for the Census-defined ZIP area in which Fauntleroy, Gatewood and the south end of Seaview sit, so a house of that age may still have its first tile liner, long past that span. Only a camera run up the flue says whether yours does.
Whether the old liner comes out
Fixr's national figure is $1,800–$4,000 with a $2,500 average; when the existing liner has to be removed first it widens to $1,200–$4,600.
