Delridge, King County
Sweeping a chimney in Delridge costs $189 to $449. A single open fireplace reached from a roof we can stand on lands at the low end. A stove or insert we have to slide out first, a long flue, or a roof pitched too steeply to walk pushes it toward the top. Before any brush goes up, the technician names the system you have, because the valley holds houses from the steel-mill decades next to houses finished last year, and the two are not cleaned with the same tools.

Delridge is the low ground of the peninsula, the corridor where Longfellow Creek runs between the two ridges. Its housing came in waves: mill-era blocks around Youngstown, wartime units in 1943, postwar houses, then a large share of new construction after 2000. A masonry flue lined with clay tile takes a stiff brush and a close look at the joints. A factory-built fireplace vented through metal pipe takes a softer brush sized to that pipe, and steel bristles would scratch it. We check which one you own at the hearth, never from the street address.
The city's landslide study describes Longfellow Creek as one of the longest streams in Seattle and one of the flattest, running between the two ridges that shape West Seattle. A low-gradient creek on a valley floor is a sign of ground that drains slowly. Rain falls on the hillsides on both sides and works its way down toward the creek bed.
WeatherSpark's Seattle profile, the closest climate summary to the neighborhood, counts about six and a half wetter months a year, from October 10 through April 30, with November the wettest. A flue left dirty over that stretch does not stay inert. Soot absorbs moisture, sours, and sends that campfire smell back into the room on humid days. Brushing before the wet season begins means the deposits never get the chance to soak.
Every chimney sweep we do in Delridge includes:
Smoke coming back into the room, or a smell that won't go? Book the inspection first.
Book nowFew homes here burn wood every day. Federal survey numbers for Delridge's postal area count wood as the main fuel in very few households, and the margin on that estimate is larger than the estimate itself. A fireplace lit on a handful of cold weekends burns cooler than a stove running all winter, and cool fires leave the soft, dark soot that collects on the smoke shelf and clings to the upper flue. CSIA points to NFPA 211 for a once-a-year inspection minimum, and for masonry fireplaces it draws the sweeping line at a soot deposit one-eighth inch thick.
At the hearth we confirm whether you have a masonry flue, a factory-built unit or an insert, and choose rods and brush heads to match.
Tarps cover the floor in front of the fireplace, and suction at the opening keeps loosened soot out of the room.
The flue is brushed its full length, with rods fed from the firebox or lowered through the cap, whichever the house permits, and the debris on the smoke shelf is scooped out.
With the deposits gone we inspect the walls we can reach, photograph anything worth showing you and leave a short written note.
The 2023 landmark nomination for the Cettolin House looks closely at two semi-isolated Youngstown blocks of roughly 75 to 100 single-family houses. A few went up in the 1920s and 1930s; most date from the 1940s through the 1970s. Census data for the surrounding ZIP area agrees, with a median build year of 1981, the latest of any West Seattle ZIP area.
For a sweep, that spread means no two neighboring flues should be assumed alike. A house from the 1940s may still have its original tile, possibly with a stove or insert added decades later. A house from the 1970s may have a prefabricated fireplace with a metal chimney. Each gets the brush it was designed for, and the report says which system we found.

Four steps, each one on paper — so you always know what happens next.
Choose a genuine opening on the crew's calendar. Confirmation is immediate.
Liner, crown, cap, flashing and masonry examined in order — each finding photographed.
One document, plain numbers, covering only the work your chimney genuinely needs.
The repair is completed, then handed over with before-and-after photos of every item.
Most visits run one to two hours. Pulling an insert, or a stack that can only be reached from a steep roof, adds time.
We show you the photo and stop there. If the flue needs a camera run, we charge $99 plus tax for that inspection, and approving our repair quote takes that fee off the job.
It is the most popular time, which is the main argument for booking in late summer instead. A flue swept before the wet months starts the burning season clean and dry.
